Megan search continues on River Ouse

POLICE will be carrying out patrols all this week along the River Ouse in search of missing York student Megan Roberts.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police started the checks along the river between the Millennium Bridge and Clifton Bridge yesterday and have promised to do so for the rest of the week.

Megan, 20, from Wetherby, disappeared at 2.30am on January 23 after going on a night out in York with her friends. She was last seen leaving Popworld on George Hudson Street in the city.

Chief Inspector Alisdair Dey, of York Safer Neighbourhood Command, said: ”If you have any information which could help to locate Megan, I urge you to contact the police straight away.

Police say the most likely scenario is that the York St John University student fell in the River Ouse while “affected by alcohol”, and admit the chances of finding her safe are now “increasingly remote”.

Anyone with information should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.
