Murder hunt after man found dead on Leeds street

A MURDER investigation has been launched after the death of a man who was found dumped on a Leeds street with serious head injuries.

Jason Hall was discovered just after 5am on Wednesday morning by a dog walker near to the junction between Temple Newsam View and Temple Newsam Road in Leeds.

The 36-year-old, from Gipton, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but later died.

Following his death a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and questioned by West Yorkshire Police.

The force is now appealing for anyone with information about Mr Hall’s movements on Tuesday night to come forward.

Officers said that he was seen in the Leodis public house on Green Lane, Halton at around 9pm and he was later caught on CCTV at around 10.25pm at the Tesco Express store on Selby Road.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Bottomley, from West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We believe Jason was drinking with his friends on Tuesday evening and I’m keen to piece together his movements both before and after he was caught on CCTV at the Selby Road branch of Tesco Express.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area around Temple Newsam View and Temple Newsam Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning.”

Mr Hall is described as a white male, medium build, around 5ft 10in in height and with short mousey coloured hair. When he was last seen he was wearing a dark coloured t-shirt with lighter thin horizontal stripes and dark trousers.
