New appeal over Sheffield teen’s hit-and-run death

Jasmyn was knocked down while crossing Normanton Hill, near Richmond Park, in the Intake area of Sheffield, on May 9.

The man police are appealing to come forward was reported to have been seen less than a mile away from the collision, walking in the carriageway of the Mosborough Parkway close to Coisley Hill roundabout, at around 9.30pm. He is white and aged in his late teens to early 20s.

Chief Inspector Stuart Walne of South Yorkshire Police said: “We are very keen to identify and speak to this man as part of our enquiries.

“If you are this man, or you know who it was, please contact the police.

“In recent appeals we have asked for information regarding a Honda Civic. The car is still outstanding, however we have a number of leads we are continuing to follow up and further operational activities to conduct to progress the investigation in a bid to locate the car.”

Funeral arrangements for Jasmyn are currently being organised by her family. Jasmyn’s parents, Peter Chan and Paula McCullie, spoke of their loss earlier this month. Mr Chan said: “Our daughter was beautiful, inside and out. I cannot put into words the pain and devastation I feel in my heart knowing she is gone.”

A 32-year-old man was arrested on May 14 and bailed pending further police enquiries.
