Police ask public to avoid Selby area after serious incident

Police are asking members of the public to avoid an area in Selby after a serious incident occurred this morning (Tuesday).

Police attended a property just before 9am on December 29 to find a man who had suffered serious injuries and a woman who was also injured.

A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the Finkle Street incident.

The investigation remains ongoing but no-one is currently outstanding as wanted by police in relation to the incident.

Police have said it is not likely to have an impact on the wider community.

on Tuesday afternoon, Selby Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "An incident occurred this morning that saw Finkle Street being closed down for a significant amount of time.

"Again, although this was a serious incident that required this level of attention it was not an incident that is likely to have an impact on the wider community.

"The investigation remains ongoing and further details will be released as we are able to do so."

A statement released earlier on Tuesday morning by North Yorkshire Police said: "Officers are at the scene of a serious incident in Selby.

"Police attended a property in Finkle Street just before 9am this morning, where they located a man who had suffered serious injuries. A woman was also found injured.

"A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with the incident.

"Members of the public are asked to avoid the area while forensic enquiries continue at the scene."
