Ms Greaves has been known to disappear previously but not for this length of time, the force said.

Police have conducted a thorough search for the teenager and they are now growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

She is described as black with black hair, usually worn in a ponytail, she is between 5ft-3ins and 5ft 5ins tall and was last seen wearing a beige T-shirt, beige cardigan and dark coloured leggings.

Anyone who may have seen her or have any information of her whereabouts is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 0114 2202020 quoting incident number 1493 of the 2 August 2011.

Police would also urge Larice herself to contact the police or her family to reassure them of her safety.
