Police investigating two stabbings in two days in Rotherham say attacks were targeted and linked

Police in South Yorkshire have revealed they are treating two stabbing attacks in Rotherham as targeted and linked.

Two men remain in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in separate incidents in the South Yorkshire town last week.

Three boys, two 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old, have been arrested on suspicion of two counts of attempted murder. The two 16-year-olds remain in police custody. The 17-year-old boy has been bailed.

Police were called at around 4.50pm on July 7, to reports that a man had been stabbed in High Street.

Emergency services attended and a 30-year-old man was taken to hospital via ambulance after suffering serious stab wounds.

He remains in hospital in a serious condition.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Officers are treating the incidents as linked.

“Investigations have been launched into both incidents, and enquiries continue at pace.”
