Police to probe RL star over alleged racism

POLICE are now investigating Hull Kingston Rovers star Ben Cockayne over an alleged racist remark on a social networking site.

Mr Cockayne was said to have used the two-word remark on a friend’s Facebook page, referring to a taxi driver he thought had driven off with his wallet.

Sgt Julian Hart from Humberside Police’s Park Neighbourhood Police Team, whose area covers the Hull KR ground, said: “At the moment we are dealing with this as a racially-related incident. We will be liasing with the club in the next week or so.”

He said as far as he was aware there had been no complaint from any member of the public. After Rovers were made aware of the posting, the offending Facebook pages were deleted.
