Three robberies are linked say city detectives

POLICE are linking robberies across York, which included a man being threatened on his allotment by a thief with a baseball bat.

Three muggings – two of which were successful – by an attacker who claimed to have a knife, were reported on Friday, while the day before a 52-year-old woman had her handbag stolen by a man riding a bike on the railway footbridge between Leeman Road and Wilton Rise.

Detective Inspector Ian Dyer of York CID, said: “There are similarities in all of the incidents.”
