Two Bradford men killed after car hit lamp post in Halifax

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after two Bradford men died when the car they were travelling in crashed in to a lamp post in Halifax.

The 20-year-old driver of the VW Golf GTI and his 19-year-old front seat passenger suffered fatal injuries in the incident at around 10pm on Friday. (February 7)

It happened as the Golf was being driven on Ovenden Road away from Halifax town centre.

A rear seat passenger, a 19-year-old man, suffered a serious foot injury and was taken to Leeds General Infirmary for treatment.

The Golf had been seen travelling with a red Vauxhall Astra VXR around Halifax town centre before the collision.

Police are keen to trace the movements of either vehicle and their drivers.

Sgt Carl Quinn of West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enqiuiry Team, said: “We are conducting enquiries and are appealing for witnesses to this incident in which two men lost their lives and another has received a serious injury.

“The VW was seen driving around the town centre prior to the collision with a red Vauxhall Astra VXR and we are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the behaviour of either car or the collision itself.
