Two in hospital with head injuries after violence breaks out near York Racecourse

Two people have been injured and four arrested following reports of violence between several people in York.

Witnesses saw "at least two vehicles" on land near to Knavesmire, near to the racecourse, North Yorkshire Police said.

A white VW Polo was seen making off from the scene.

Police and paramedics were called to the racecourse after violence involving a number of people erupted, leaving one man with a serious head injury. The man was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment.

Another man also received hospital treatment for a head injury.

Three men aged 35, 29, and 25, and a 20-year-old woman, have been arrested on suspicion of affray.
