York teenager to appear in court charged with punching North Yorkshire Police officer

A teenager has been charged with assaulting an emergency services worker after a police officer was punched, police say.

The officer was punched in the head after attending a property at Gargrave, near Skipton, following reports of a disturbance yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).

A 17-year-old boy from York has been charged in connection with the assault.

The boy, who cannot legally be named due to his age, is also charged with criminal damage, using threatening behaviour and resisting a constable in the execution of his duties.

He has been released on bail ahead of appearing at Harrogate Youth Court next month.
