Cyclist killed in Sheffield crash

A cyclist died after being hit by a car in Sheffield last night.

The 38-year-old Sheffield man, who is yet to be named, was struck by a black Nissan Micra at the junction of Loxley Road and Wisewood Lane, Hillsborough, just after 8pm.

A 67-year-old man, who was driving the Micra, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody today.

The collision led to the closure of Loxley Road while emergency services dealt with the incident and carried out inquiries at the scene.

South Yorkshire Police are urging witnesses to come forward and call 101, quoting log 1107 of July 20.
