Daredevils’ chance to abseil from bridge

Thrill-seekers are being urged to sign up to abseil from the Humber Bridge to raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution

RNLI events manager Lisa Connor said the charity is hoping to raise more than £20,000 from the abseil on May 26 and 27. The last abseil from the bridge was in 2006.

She added: “Abseiling 110ft from the Humber Bridge roadside down to Hessle foreshore is an experience not to be missed. We have 300 places for people who want to take the plunge and have already received a lot of interest from RNLI supporters.

“The abseil will raise a significant amount of money for our charity, helping volunteer RNLI crews to carry on their vital lifesaving role.’

Entry costs £30 and all participants are asked to raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship money for the RNLI. Entry is on a first come, first served basis.

Participants must be aged 14 and above on the day of the abseil. All participants will receive full fundraising support and an RNLI T-shirt to abseil in.
