Date set for wind farm plan hearing

PEOPLE concerned about plans for a windfarm on the outskirts of Ulley, Rotherham, have until today to make their views known.

An application to build the turbines on land at Penny Hill Lane is set to be considered at a special meeting of Rotherham Council's planning regulatory board on Wednesday May 26.

Planning board councillors will gather at the Royal Oak pub car park in Ulley at 9.30am to meet local residents and then see the site from several locations.

They will then return to Rotherham's Bailey House to consider the application at about 1pm.

Banks Developments Ltd wants to erect six 132-metre high turbines and construct access roads, crane pads, a control building, a substation and a temporary compound.

Ulley Wind Farm Action Group opposes the scheme, saying the turbines will be a blot on the landscape.
