Bradford fatal accident

February 19, 1872

An inquest was held on Saturday, on view of the body of Isaac Illingworth, who was killed on Friday at Mr Drummond’s mill, in consequence of falling down a hoist pit.

It was supposed that the deceased, when in an upper floor, had stepped into the chasm under the impression that the hoist, which he had just left, was there, but which had been removed to a floor above, he fell to the ground, a distance of several storeys, and was so severely injured that he died shortly after. The jury returned a verdict of “Accidentally killed.”
