Death of man at garage

Police are investigating the death of a man at a car repair garage in Keighley.

Mark Roper, 32, from Keighley, died following an incident at the Autocraft Accident Repair Centre on the Knowle Spring Industrial Estate, on Wednesday morning.

It is understood that a vehicle, which was being worked on at the premises, was being manoeuvred outside and collided with Mr Roper in the workshop.

A 68-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail.

Two other people were injured, although not seriously, and were treated at the scene by paramedics.

One was reported to have suffered a leg injury and the other was described as “walking wounded”.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We were called at 10.39am on Wednesday morning to reports of an industrial accident. Emergency services attended the scene where a man had received serious injuries and subsequently died. Air Ambulance was called to the scene.

“A 68-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident. He has been released on bail pending further enquiries.”

The Health and Safety Executive is aware of the incident and is making initial enquiries. Autocraft Accident Repair Centre declined to comment.

South Street was closed to traffic to allow a Yorkshire Air Ambulance to land.
