Death of woman pulled from river

The death of a woman who was pulled from a West Yorkshire river is not believed to be suspicious.

Emergency services, including specialist water rescuers, were called in the early hours of yesterday (Friday) morning to Rastrick Bridge, Briggate, Brighouse.

The woman was pulled out of the river by members of Leeds Water Rescue Team and given CPR.

Paramedics took over and tried to resuscitate her but to no avail.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said police were called at 1.05am yesterday to reports of a woman “having entered the water at Bridge End, Brighouse.”

Fire and rescue crews from Brighouse, Elland, Cleckheaton and Rothwell attended the scene.

The case has been passed to Calderdale Coroner’s Office.
