Developer eyes up footballing street names

Die-hard fans of Hull City could one day move into a new home on Black and Amber Way.

Developers building hundreds of new homes on Hull City’s former home have come up with a list of names for streets.

Together with the football club, Strata Homes have drawn up the list for the Boothferry Park site, including Legends Way, Bunkers Hill Road and Raich Carter Avenue – after the great sportsman who played for Hull City from 1948 to 1952.

Bly Close recalls Billy Bly, on Hull City’s list of most league appearances, and Jensen Way, the Danish player Hans Viggo Jensen, who scored 51 goals for the club.

The Riverside area committee is to choose six out of 10 names on the list at a meeting on June 13. More than 230 homes are due to be built on the 10-acre site on Boothferry Road over a period of seven years.
