Disappearing tricks bring Sebastian’s trophy into being

HE CAN make cards and coins disappear and now 15-year-old Sebastian Walton’s magical talents have landed him his first trophy.

Sebastian, from Alwoodley, Leeds, became hooked on magic after a family holiday 10 months ago to Florida where he saw a magician perform. He ended up buying some tricks of the trade and has been practising ever since.

Two months ago the teenager joined the northern branch of the Magic Circle and won the Junior Stage Competition at the group’s annual competition in Scarborough.

The youngster said: “Two months ago, I joined the Northern Magic Circle, and I’ve just done my first stage competition and won the top prize.”

Sebastian, a pupil at Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School, in Meanwood, says he is inspired by magicians Derren Brown, Marc Oberon and the late 1960s star Fred Kaps.

“Everyone at school loves the tricks and they bring cards into school.

“Sometimes I do them in class when I shouldn’t but the teachers like it really. People are always really impressed – especially the girls,” he said.
