Donny and Morocco links pay off

A PROJECT linking fashion lecturers and students from Doncaster and Morocco has been shortlisted for a top award.

The work between University Centre Doncaster and a fashion and textile college in the North African country called ESITH (Ecole Supérieure des Industries du Textile et Habillement) is in the running for the British Council International Skills Partnership of the Year Award.

The project has involved exchanging curriculum ideas, running student and staff exchanges, and enterprise visits.

University Centre Doncaster, which is run by the town’s college, sent four of its fashion students and one staff member to ESITH in Morocco in February 2012 for a two-week exchange visit.

Deborah Pulleyblank, assistant director, higher education arts, at the University Centre Doncaster, said: “I am extremely proud and delighted that the project has been shortlisted and look forward to continuing what has been a successful and mutually beneficial partnership with ESITH.”
