Double trouble as twins take over at charity fundraiser

PARTYgoers at a Leeds fundraiser were seeing double yesterday as 40 sets of twins came together to celebrate Christmas.

More than 200 people attended Leeds Twins and Multiples’ (LTM) celebration at St Edmund’s Parish Church Hall, in Roundhay.

LTM, which has provided support for parents with or expecting twins in Leeds for a year, was raising money for children’s cancer charities Little Heroes and CLIC Sargent. Organiser Hazel Ramsay said: “When we have the monthly parent meetings there’s often 20 parents and 40 children, so we are used to the chaos.”

Hazel and her husband Jason organise the parents’ group and also have their own business as children’s entertainers, with Jason starring as “Mr Shuffles”.

They set up the event and used their own equipment free of charge, putting on a raffle, bouncy castle and party food.

Mrs Ramsay, whose sons Charlie and William are twins, said: “It’s giving my husband a bit of a test as his trick is remembering kids’ names, so he’s got a real test.”

The event was set up in memory of Mrs Ramsay’s niece Sophie Cutts, who lost her battle with breast cancer aged just 21 in September.

LTM meets at St Andrew’s United Reformed Church Hall, Roundhay, on the first Thursday of every month from 10am.
