It may not come with perks like a lunch break or free use of the photocopier, but the work is flexible, home-based and you won’t face disciplinary action for falling asleep on the job.

The role, which is initially for three months from March 28, also involves trialling a number of sleep experiences including testing sleep-aids and snooze-enhancing diets and lifestyles.

According to the job description, the ideal candidate needs to be proactive, open-minded and articulate, although it’s not clear whether this means talking eloquently in your sleep.

Sealy’s sleep expert, Neil Robinson said: “This really is the ultimate job for the person who loves to snooze, and we are literally paying someone to ‘sleep on the job.’

“While undoubtedly it is a fun position, we do view this as an important job and we will be using our applicant to provide valuable feedback into our products, as well as debunking sleep myths.”

The remuneration package is valued at £2,500 and involves 10 sleeps at £100 per sleep, plus Sealy products.

Applications close on Friday February 19 and anyone interested in becoming a ‘Sleep Ambassador’ can apply by clicking here ( http://www.sealy.co.uk/dreamjob/ )

There are no overtime payments so don’t forget to set your alarm.
