Drive towards a low-emissions city
A comprehensive plan is being developed for York to build on existing work to reduce car journeys and slash harmful emissions.
York Council is looking to major planning documents, such as the Local Development Framework, to create an overarching strategy for a low emissions city.

Hide AdSteps which could be taken include developing a network of electric vehicle charging points in addition to those recent installed at the new Waitrose supermarket, and encouraging the use of low emissions technology.
Low emission buses are already being trialled along Fulford Road.

Despite ongoing work which has seen York recognised as a low-emissions champion in the region, there are concerns about the city’s air quality.
