Driver held after woman of 87 is injured in hit and run at Tesco car park

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested following a hit-and-run incident in Leeds in which an 87-year-old woman was seriously injured.

The woman was struck by a vehicle near the exit of the Tesco's on Roundhay Road in Leeds.

The incident occurred around 4.30pm yesterday as the elderly pedestrian was crossing the roadway leading out of the store to the exit on Roundhay Road.

Witnesses report seeing a blue coloured Peugeot 206 vehicle strike the pedestrian before driving off up Roundhay Road towards Leeds ring road.

The elderly lady, who is from the Harehills area of Leeds, suffered multiple injuries in the incident and is this morning described as being in a stable but poorly condition at Leeds General Infirmary.

A woman from Gipton, Leeds was arrested this morning on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and of leaving the scene of an accident.
