Driver tried to lure girls into van

Officers said the pair of 11-year-olds were reportedly approached by a man who was driving a red van.

He pulled up at the side of the road and told them to get in.

The incident happened in Pelham Street, in the Manton area of Worksop, at around 3.45pm on Friday.

The girls apparently refused the invitiation, ran off and immediately alerted their parents who then called the police.

A spokesman from Nottinghamshire Police said: “Neither girl was physically injured. The man involved is described as being white, in his 50s with grey hair.

“Officers would also like to speak to anyone with knowledge of a man matching the description that owns a red van in the Manton area or anyone who may have been in the area at the time.”
