Early hours blaze at Halifax warehouse

Firefighters were drafted in from miles around to deal with a fire that broke out at a warehouse in Halifax in the early hours of this morning.

Eight fire appliances were needed at Grantham Works shortly after midnight when a blaze started in a furnace.

The building involved in the fire was a large two-storey warehouse in Grantham Road.

At the height of the incident firefighters used an aerial appliance, four large jets, two hose reels and eight breathing apparatus to fight the flames.

Fire crews from Halifax, Odsal, Illingworth, Shipley, Wakefield, Fairweather Green and Killingbeck were called to the scene along with a number of specialist officers.
