Eco-blessing for new store

Shoppers at a new eco-supermarket have been given a special blessing after the Archbishop of York christened a new Waitrose supermarket.

Dr John Sentamu officially opened the store in York and even leapt on to a tuc-tuc bicycle taxi– which the chain is using to promote their more environmentally friendly business.

They claim it is the first Waitrose to introduce electrical chargers for vehicles in its car park, use 'green' fridges and offer 'cold air retrieval' instead of in-store air conditioning. It also encourages shoppers to cycle to the store by offering free trailers to tow goods back home. The new store will employ 180 staff.
