Election posters targeted

Police are understood to be investigating after the Liberal Democrats reported "record numbers" of their election posters being damaged or stolen in the key marginal seat of Sheffield Central.

The party's activists said many campaign boards had been stolen and a resident reported being harassed after confronting an individual taking down a poster in her front garden.

Coun Shaffaq Mohammed said it was an "extremely serious" situation.

The Labour candidate Paul Blomfield said they had also had posters taken.
