Engineer graduated from a warship

Former navy engineer Andy Murray, who completed a science degree on board a warship in the Gulf Sea, has now graduated from the Open University.

The 42-year-old from Thurcroft, Rotherham, received a BSc in Physical Science after studying for nine years while serving with the Royal Navy.

Mr Murray said: "This is an absolutely massive accomplishment for me and one that I am incredibly proud of. I always wanted to prove to myself that I had what it took to achieve a qualification like this, but with serving in the navy and never staying in one place for any length of time I never thought it would be possible."

He is now a civilian gas turbine engineer.
