Engineering firm enters administration

Nine people face redundancy after an engineering firm was placed into administration.

Hawksley Engineering, based in Gunness, near Scunthorpe, has been experiencing difficult trading conditions and administrators are now seeking a buyer for the business.

The firm turns over £500,000 and has been trading since 1972, providing structural and mechanical engineering projects in the farming, marine and civil engineering industries. All nine employees face redundancy if a buyer cannot be found.

Administrator Andrew MacKenzie, said: “Unfortunately Hawksley Engineering has suffered from the devastating effects of the economic downturn and the loss of a major customer, which has resulted in the business being put into administration.

“We are hopeful that the company can be sold as a going concern, safeguarding as many jobs as possible. We are currently talking to a number of interested parties and hope to secure a buyer for the business and its assets, which include plant and machinery as well as 3.5 acres of land and buildings in Scunthorpe.”

All enquiries should be made to Begbies Traynor on 0113 2440044.
