Event rider dies after falling from horse

AN event rider who broke his neck when he fell from a horse in North Yorkshire three weeks ago has died in hospital.

Robin Donaldson, 64, was seriously injured at the Beckwithshaw Horse Trials last month when he fell from his horse Matilda Cruz.

Mr Donaldson, who lived near Wetherby, was taken to the intensive care unit at Leeds General Infirmary following the fall but died on Thursday.

A message on his riding club's website said: "It is with great sadness that we are bringing you the news that Robin died on Thursday night in hospital.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends at this difficult time."

Leeds Coroner's office confirmed an inquest into Mr Donaldson's death will be held at a date to be fixed.
