Ex-teacher admits 1964 sex attacks

AN ex-music teacher has admitted indecently assaulting girls at two schools nearly 50 years ago.

Michael Crombie, 75, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to 47 counts of indecent assault between 1964 and 1993.

He also admitted two of sexual activity with a child between 2005 and 2007. The offences involve 16 victims at Beal Grammar School and Wanstead High School, both in east London, while he was a teacher there. Two allegations of rape and a number of other charges of indecent assault were ordered to lie on file.

Crombie, formerly of Woodford Green, east London, was remanded for sentencing on January 25 by Judge Wendy Joseph. He is already in custody serving a five-year prison sentence imposed in 2010, mainly for sexually assaulting girls while working as a private music tutor between 1991 and 2002.
