Faith festival aims to build bridges

FINISHING touches are being put on exhibitions at places of worship in Huddersfied and beyond, as preparations near an end for this weekend’s Treasures Revealed in Kirklees festival.

Churches, mosques and temples will be opening their doors on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to give people the opportunity to experience what goes on inside local places of worship. The annual Treasures Revealed in Kirklees festival aims to encourage understanding and “build relationships between the various faith communities that make Kirklees such a culturally and spiritually rich and diverse place to live”, according to organisers.

Zainab Akudi from the Kirklees Faiths Forum, said: “Places of worship have been busy planning some new and exciting activities this year, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to see inside some magnificent buildings, meet people of that faith and to have fun.”
