Family pays tribute to pensioner hit by car

THE family of a pensioner who died after being hit by a car on a footpath have paid tribute to her.

Helena Mary Horsley, 79, known as Mary, of Kettlebridge Lane, East Halton, near Immingham, was walking home from her job at a local hotel at about 9.30pm on Tuesday when a car stopped to offer her a lift. This was then hit by another car, causing fatal injuries to Mrs Horsley. A man aged 26 was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

Mrs Horsley’s family said in a statement: “We are extremely saddened by the tragic loss of our much loved mother and grandmother, Mary, who was very well known in the local area. She will be sadly missed, not only by her family but all who knew her.”

She leaves two daughters, a son, and several grandchildren.
