Farmers’ legal fight over energy deal
The writ against E.On Energy Solutions carries the names of 30 farmers, including 10 in Yorkshire, who all did a deal through the same broker for five years’ worth of supply at guaranteed prices from a supplier called Economy Power.
Economy Power was taken over by E.On towards the end of 2005.

Hide AdThe writ says E.On offered three-year deals instead and bumped up prices unfairly when those were over, so the customers ended up paying more than twice as much as they originally expected from October 2009. They want the alleged overpayments returned.
No court date has yet been set for hearing of the argument.
The complainants’ solicitors are Roythornes of Spalding.
E.On said yesterday: “We take all matters of this kind extremely seriously and are conducting a thorough investigation. We are unable to comment further at this time.”
