THE father of a missing student from East Yorkshire has been charged with child pornography offences.

Roger Bohling, 57, whose son Russell went missing nearly six months ago, has been charged with 11 offences and is due to appear in court next week.

The charges include five counts of making indecent photographs or pseudo photographs of a child, three counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child, and three of possessing extreme pornographic images involving animals.

Mr Bohling, of The Fairway, West Ella, near Hull, was arrested on March 23 and was formally charged on July 29.

He appeared at Beverley Magistrates' Court last week and is due to attend a further hearing at the same court on Wednesday, August 25.

When asked to comment on the charges, Mr Bohling said: "The charges are under review. They haven't been put to me in court."

Mr Bohling has led the family's campaign to find Russell, 18, who was last seen at 8am on March 2 when he left home and was expected to travel to Bishop Burton College, near Beverley, where he was in the second year of a construction course.

Russell, who has a speech and language disorder, had a near-perfect attendance record.

It has not been established whether he arrived at the college and his blue Renault Clio was found abandoned at Bempton Cliffs nature reserve, near Bridlington.

The car displayed a 3.50 all-day parking ticket, which had Russell's fingerprint on it and was bought at 11.30am on March 2.

Russell's disappearance sparked a widespread air, sea and land search and inquiries were later extended across Yorkshire.

His fate, however, remains a mystery.

Mr Bohling believes Russell may have been abducted and murdered.
