fears surrounduse of injunctions

Outrage exploded last year after an injunction granted to the Swiss multinational Trafigura appeared to restrict what MPs could say in Parliament.

Chelsea football captain John Terry was also granted an injunction – later overturned – preventing reporting of information about his alleged affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the former partner of his England team-mate Wayne Bridge.

His identity was confirmed in January after Mr Justice Tugendhat lifted the so-called superinjunction, suggesting the player was more concerned about his reputation and high-profile sponsorship deals than the privacy of others involved. The judge said the information was so widely available as to make the injunction disproportionate.
