Festival brings churches together

CHURCHES in Hull city centre are coming together to celebrate Christian spirituality, life, and tradition with a new festival.

Inspire runs from Friday, July 2 to Sunday July 4 at Holy Trinity, St Mary the Virgin, Lowgate, St Charles Borromeo, and Hull Methodist Central Hall.

The Rev Michael Hills, Vicar of St Mary, Lowgate, has been part of the team organising the events.

He said: "We want to open up Hull city centre churches so that local people can find out what goes on in the churches, what they're like, and to have an opportunity to experience the Christian faith.

"We hope that the Inspire festival this year is only the beginning of what will become a three-day city-wide event next year. All events and services are free except the evening concert at Holy Trinity on Saturday July 3. There is no need to book a place for any of the events or services, simply turn up.

"The festival begins on Friday July 2 with a coffee morning at Hull Methodist Central Hall at 10am, and a meeting of the Friendship Club at 2pm, where there'll be a talk on something interesting and a cuppa. There will also be guided tours of the beautiful and historic church of St Charles Borromeo from 1pm."
