Festival to help vulnerable children

A NEW music festival organised by members of Sheffield University’s students’ union is set to raise money for children’s charity Safe@Last.

Contours Festival will take
place on the afternoon of
Thursday, June 6 at four venues in Sheffield city centre – the student’s union, the University Arms pub, the Harley in Glossop Road, and DQ nightclub in Fitzwilliam Street.

Mike McQuillan, assistant events manager at Sheffield University students’ union, said: “The name, acts, venues, design, and all aspects of the festival have been chosen by volunteers, with myself and other students’ union staff offering support and guidance to the team.

“It’s a hugely exciting project which sees the Contours team working with Sheffield Raising and Giving (RAG) to raise money for Safe@Last, and it is one we hope will leave a lasting legacy.

“We’re really hoping that all Sheffielders will show an interest and come and participate in the festival’s inaugural year.”

Safe@Last, based in Dinnington, Rotherham, works with children who are at risk through running away from home, and the various problems they may face.
