Festive gifts for struggling parents

STRUGGLING parents in Kirklees are being given thousands of pounds of baby and toddler products.

Philanthropist and local entrepreneur Prof Graham Leslie, who is chairman of Babyway International Ltd, is giving products ranging from strollers to changing mats worth £40,000 to young mothers.

The firm has worked closely with Kirklees Council to ensure that the items go directly to local parents who are struggling to provide for their children.

Although the majority of the products will be given to parents under the age of 18, many other families in the district who are under financial strain will also benefit.

Prof Leslie said: “I am a dad and a granddad and I understand how crucial it is for babies to get the best start in life.

“This is the time of year for giving, so we want to help those families in Kirklees and ensure that their children are getting the best possible start.

“We hope our gifts will reduce the strain and enable young parents to provide better care for their little ones, and allow them to look forward to the festive season.”
