A film to remember... the other great Titanic movie that came from Britain

The RMS Titanic (RMS stands for Royal Mail Steamer) was the second of three superliners of similar size that were constructed by the White Star Line for the Atlantic passenger trade

It cost $7.5m to build at 1912 prices, was 882ft long and carried a total of 2,223 people on its maiden voyage. Several millionaires, including John Jacob Astor, paid $3,100 (or $124,000 today) for a top first-class ticket.

Titanic received numerous messages from other ships regarding icebergs in the vicinity of her route from Southampton to New York.

As she sank, the ship’s band is thought to have played Nearer My God to Thee. More than 1,500 passengers and crew perished.
