Film’s festival premiere to be shown across UK

Film fans will be able to watch the Hollywood filmmaker and stars of the film, including Winona Ryder, walking the red carpet and taking part in a question and answer session about the film, from over 200 cinemas in 30 regions across the country, as part of a new initiative to take the London Film Festival across the UK.

Frankenweenie will open the 56th BFI London Film Festival on October 10 and the public can book tickets to watch a live stream of the gala screening at their local cinema from today.

New director of the festival Clare Stewart said: “I think it’s really great to able to take the festival out more broadly and to engage audiences across the country with what the festival has to offer.

“Both that red carpet excitement at a gala screening and the opportunity to hear the filmmakers introduce their film and present the screening is an opportunity that is traditionally very limited to the geography of the festival.

“Given recent developments in technology, we are very keen to make cinema and events more accessible across the UK.”

Regional screenings will take place in towns and cities all over the country, including Birmingham, Brighton, Cardiff, Glasgow, Nottingham, and Sheffield.

The festival’s gala screening of Rolling Stones documentary Crossfire Hurricane, attended by the rock band, will also be live streamed, both nationally and internationally, to 150 cinemas.
