Final farewell to canal crash hero

Soldiers carried the coffin of fallen comrade Lance Corporal David Ramsden at his funeral at All Saints Parish Church in Otley yesterday.

Hundreds of people lined the streets to pay their respects to the 26-year-old who died in Afghanistan along with three colleagues when their vehicle plunged into a canal.

L/Cpl Ramsden had left the Army in 2008 to spend more time with his family but courageously volunteered to return to action at the start of this year.
