Final stop for bus fan

A lifelong bus fan made one last trip on a bright red double decker – when he was driven to his funeral.

Instead of the usual black hearse, Gordon Earnshaw's coffin was carried to Keighley crematorium, in a red Lodekka bus with cream trimming followed by a red London Routemaster.

Both vehicles were from the Keighley Bus Museum Trust.

Graham Mitchell, who was behind the wheel of the Routemaster, said: "Gordon was a very good friend and beneficiary of the museum."

love of buses began when he worked as a fitter for the former Keighley

West Yorkshire Bus Company as a young man.
