Fire breaks out
at sailing venue

A PAVILION at one of the Olympic venues was evacuated ahead of the opening ceremony when fire broke out.

Police evacuated Weymouth Pavilion while a Press conference by TeamGB sailors was moved to the quayside at about 4.30pm yesterday.

The fire is understood to
have broken out in the men’s toilets.

Police remained on the scene last night as crowds gathered on the beach for the opening ceremony for Weymouth and Portland, the venues for the Olympic sailing competition.
