A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: "This flood warning in Hessle has been issued for the high tide on the afternoon of Wednesday 11th January between 16:00 and 19:15. The high tide combined with wave action could result in some wave overtopping.

"The flood warning may also be required for the morning tides on Thursday 12th January and Friday 13th January, and we will update this message as confidence in the forecast improves.

"High tides are expected for the remainder of the week, increasing towards peak spring tides and strong winds on Friday."
