Food festival is new show attraction

ORGANISERS of this year’s Howden Show are promising a mouth-watering celebration of local produce by adding a food festival to the programme.

Sean Welsh who owns and runs Howden-based wine merchant and delicatessen Flourish and Prosper, has joined the show committee to lend his expertise.

A wide selection of stalls representing the area’s finest food and drink producers will feature alongside the show’s traditional elements.

Mr Welsh said: “In rural East Yorkshire we have such a wealth of fantastic food and drink producers right here on our doorstep. The idea is to celebrate the very best of what Yorkshire has to offer.

“I think that a food festival is very much in keeping with Howden Show’s tremendous history of proudly promoting local agriculture and horticulture.

“Yet it also offers something new and exciting that’s sure to appeal to 21st century consumers, who are increasingly aware of where their food comes from and keen to support local producers.”

The show will take place in the Ashes playing fields on Sunday, July 3. To book a stall call (01430) 430006.
