Football fans clash in town centre pub

RIVAL football fans brawled and threw glasses in a town centre pub after Saturday’s match between Rotherham United and Sheffield United.

According to police, supporters were drinking in The Corn Law Rhymer, Rotherham, at about 5.15pm when drinks glasses were thrown between rival fans and at bystanders.

Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, and two men aged 46 and 59 – all from Sheffield – were arrested.

Three of them have been bailed, while the 59-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, was still in custody last night.

Rotherham Chief Superintendent Jason Harwin said: “Unfortunately some people got involved in this incident after the game and an investigation is now under way.”

Witnesses should call 101.
