Footballer Carrollfaces assault charge
England under-21 footballer Andy Carroll has appeared in court charged with assault after an incident at a nightclub.
The Newcastle United striker is accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against Michael Cook in the Blu Bambu club in Newcastle’s Bigg Market in December after smashing a glass into Mr Cook’s face.
Carroll, 21, of Carr Road, Prestwick, Newcastle, was committed to Crown Court and released on bail.
