Forecasters predicting mixtures of sunshine and rain for Yorkshire

With the summer holidays in full swing, residents looking forward to taking part in any outdoor activities may find themselves shortchanged by the grey, wet weather expected by forecasters.

Yorkshire families and holidaymakers hoping to enjoy trips to the beach or walks in the countryside may have to look elsewhere if they want warm weather and sunny skies.

While it might have been hoped that the weather would be set to improve, even perhaps reaching the highest temperatures of the year, official forecasts have proven far less optimistic.

The next two weeks are forecast to continue July’s run of disappointing weather, with wind and showers across the whole county. Weather forecasting service Meteogroup says that temperatures [today/tomorrow] [4th August] will only reach a maximum of 20 degrees Celcuis. The group says that temperatures this week are unlikely to leave the low 20s, reaching a peak of 22 degrees on Thursday. Though the rest of this week is expected to be dry, the weekend will see the start of rain which is forecast to continue well into next week.

While areas in the west are the most at risk for rain, the entire Yorkshire region is due to be subject to similar weather patterns over the coming fortnight.

A Met office spokesman: “It’s rather cloudy across the country at the moment. It will probably get brighter as the week goes on but it certainly won’t be as warm as the sunshine would have you believe.”
